Founding

Climate Solutions International’s founder, Dr. Jan Whittington, is a professor of Urban Planning at the University of Washington.  She researches and teaches methods to adapt the annual city budgeting and planning process to get action on climate change, make city infrastructure more resilient and save cities money at the same time.  The World Bank learned of her work and took her to over 300 cities in 30 different countries to develop, deploy and test her methodology.  Jan proved that it works, but realized that to truly meet the incoming demand from cities and the needs of the climate crisis she would have to start a company.  CSI was born.  We now have an active and growing cohort of North American cities as design partners including Toronto, Indianapolis, Austin, Houston, and Alexandria, VA.  We are well on our way to introducing a SaaS product to them that is the culmination of all Dr. Whittington’s learnings.
